SYNOPSIS
Un jour il pourrait me tuer (One Day He Could Kill Me) features eight women victims of domestic violence who succeeded in taking back control over their lives. Together for a weekend in the country, they speak about how they ended up trapped in romantic relationships that became something they could never have imagined. Why did they stay? The filmmaker, herself a victim of spousal abuse, is their host for the weekend and she gets the discussion going: soon, all eight women join in to describe the horrors they endured and how they ended up getting lost in toxic relationships, sometimes at the risk of their own lives. In separate interviews, police(wo)men, social workers and specialists add to the women’s powerful testimonials, debunk a few myths and challenge some old prejudice about domestic violence.
