In Canada, at Easter Break, thousands of Cree flock from James Bay to Val-d’Or for their minor hockey tournament, one of the biggest in the country. In the arena and outdoor skating rinks, enthusiastic shouts of “Suuhk! Suuhk!”, or “Go! Go!” in the Cree language, can be heard from parents and friends cheering on their kids at hockey games. Through the cultural impact of hockey in northern Quebec, Suuhk! Suuhk! Hockey portrays the Cree as they are today.
